Spray It Forward 2011

Spray It Forward is a motion-tracking, telepresent pepper spray machine searching Twitter for mentions of anyone getting pepper sprayed at an #OccupyWallSt protest… if an attack is reported it echoes this by spraying anyone in range…
About:
Inspired by the Occupy Wall Street movement, Spray It Forward was conceived and built as part of a Data Visualization course in the New Media programme at Toronto Metropolitan University (formerly Ryerson University).

When installed in a gallery, the piece scans Twitter for realtime mentions of protesters being pepper-sprayed, and then in turn immediately sprays whoever is within range of the piece as a visceral visualization of events happening elsewhere.
