Programmer, TIFF Nexus 2010-2012

A series of Creative Jams and Conferences designed to foster cross-sector collaboration amongst Ontario’s Film, Gaming and New Media silos.
Overview
This was an OMDC-funded industry stimulus project that took place over 18 months between 2010 and 2012.

Videos outlining TIFF Nexus’ Industry and Community Partnerships, creative outcomes, as well as speaker presentations are online at tiffnexus.net.
Organizer
Invited and collaborated with the eight Partner organizations to tailor the vision, goals and overall series structure:
  • Ryerson University
  • The Hand Eye Society
  • Interactive Ontario
  •  Ubisoft Toronto
  • WIFT-T
  • George Brown’s digiFest
  • Site3.ca
  • University of Toronto Designing Digital Media for the Internet of Things Consortium
Programming

Collaborating with our partner advisors and the team, I programmed all conferences, invited dozens of high profile speakers, and helped create hands-on media technology workshops.

Invited community partners The Hand Eye Society who conceived of and collaborated with other TIFF Nexus partners to lead hands-on “creative jam” sessions that offered participants the chance to prototype innovative media and gaming experiences and showcase them to the Public and Industry.

Liaison
Acted as point of contact for programme series. E.g., Shane Smith, TIFF’s Director Public Programmes and I were interviewed by PlayBack on the convergence of Film, digital, gaming; the article neatly sums up the rationale behind Nexus:
