Hi, I'm Nick Pagee, a designer and award-winning curator of interactive art, videogames, film and animation.
I live to make things that have a positive social impact, that are fun, and / or make a difference in the world.
I'm the co-founder of game-meets-social-app PhotoDare.ca, created to make photo-sharing and storytelling more authentic. By day, I'm the Senior Product Designer, Generative AI, on an enterprise SaaS (find me on Linkedin).
Previously, I led a series of award-winning interactive exhibitions for TIFF, called digiPlaySpace. Every year we presented a fresh lineup of super-fun and innovative interactive experiences from around the world spanning many formats from VR/AR to videogames, apps, electronics, robotics, interactive projection and more. It was experienced by over 500K people globally after touring the USA, China, and the UK.
During that time, I met and worked with some of the world's most creative digital artists, inventors, coders, hackers, animators, designers, and game makers which gave me a wide exposure to mediums and experiences.
As a curatorial and experience design consultant for museums and festivals, I've been involved in 120+ interactive installations in seven countries, connecting innovative creators to audiences and institutions. I've also led the research and design of large-scale interactive installations.
‍
I've consulted on interactive art for TIFF the Toronto International Film Festival (Canada), TIFF Kids digiPlaySpace (Canada), The National Videogame Arcade (UK), Spin Master (Global), the Brooklyn Academy of Music (USA), The Strong National Museum of Play (USA), la Gaîté Lyrique (France), The Walker Art Center (USA), Eureka! The National Children’s Museum (UK), Cinekid Medialab (the Netherlands), Cineplex Rec Room (Canada), the Melbourne International Animation Festival (Australia), JEF Festival (Belgium), The Royal Ontario Museum (Canada), and more.
I always enjoy collaborating with others on projects:Â I did my MSc in the Malmo University Interaction Design program, known for co-design research and bringing the perspectives of others directly into the design process. I'd love to hear about your projects or ideas!
I hold an MSc in Interaction Design from Malmo University, Sweden, and a BFA New Media from Ryerson University, Canada.
When I'm not doing the above, I spend all my time developing fun ideas and makin’em happen for reals.
